It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Mr Kaido Zimmermann as the new Chairman of the Board of Estonian Railways from March 1st, 2021.

Mr Zimmermann has held strategic positions in railway infrastructure as well as logistics sector for almost 27 years.

Soon after obtaining his engineering degree from the Tallinn University of Technology in Road and Bridge Construction and Maintenance in 1992, Mr Zimmermann became the Councillor to the Director General of State Enterprise Estonian Railways, later also as Infrastructure Director.

Subsequently, from 2007-2012, he held the positions of Chairman of the Board-Managing Director of Estonian Railways Ltd.

Following his year’s at Estonian Railways, Mr Zimmermann went on to work as the Chief Engineer of Latvian Railways and Railway Logistics Director at Port of Sillamäe.

For the last four years, Kaido Zimmermann has worked for the Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS as Head of the Planning and Design Department.

In 1999, Mr Zimmermann also obtained a Master’s of Engineering degree in Railway construction and maintenance.
